As the New Year begins, it’s the perfect time for reflections – to identify, acknowledge and celebrate your achievements in 2016. With the New Year comes a sense of hope as people make their New Year’s Resolutions. But, as we all know, these Resolutions are often hard to keep. People often make commitments beyond their capabilities or ambition, and the New Year’s Resolution becomes a source of failure rather than renewed confidence.
Having a clear game plan will help you achieve your dreams and goals. Take some time to discover what your dreams are. Block out quiet time for yourself, turn off your cell, and let your mind wander. This will open you to possibilities you may have not otherwise recognized. Write down the ideas that have meaning to you, the more your dreams resonate the more confidence you will have in taking the necessary steps to make them come true.
Review of 2016 and Goals for 2017
Empower yourself by framing your goals and plotting the incremental steps to get there. By knowing what actions you need to take today, tomorrow and in the future, you are much more likely to follow through. Also, be sure to determine how you will measure your results. Using the Review of 2016 and Goals for 2017 document will help you put structure to your thoughts.
Research indicates that 80% of people will have forgotten or given up on their goals within six months. Referring to your goals document weekly, or at the least, monthly, will not only keep you accountable, but will also be invaluable in helping you track how fast you are progressing. Make adjustments and revisions where necessary to ensure that what you are doing has you excited enough to see it through to completion. Tenaciously sticking to your New Year’s Resolutions will get you closer to the life of your dreams!
What Are You Doing To Make The World A Better Place?
One of the highlights of going through this process for me is to determine what I will do this year to make the world a better place. It’s not up to any single one of us to solve the problems of this world, but together, we can all be a part of the solution. It doesn’t have to take much to make a huge difference… everywhere you look there are those who could use help.
Here’s an idea, what if every time you brush your teeth, you use that time to think about what you could do to make the world a better place? Ask yourself: “What can I do to add value to others’ lives?” You provide a lot of value to others at work each day, but what can you do that goes above and beyond the call of duty?
Have fun as you review 2016 and make plans for this year… you’ll be glad you did!
